چکیده
Chronic wounds are a major source of morbidity, lead to considerable disability, and are associated with increased mortality; therefore, they have a significant impact on public health and the expenditure of healthcare resources. The incidence of chronic wounds in the United States is approximately 5 to 7 million per year, and the annual costs for management of these wounds is greater than $20 billion. In addition, chronic wounds can lead to complications, such as infections, contractures, depression or limb amputation. These complications are associated with a need for assisted living and with higher mortality. 6 The objective of this report is to systematically review the evidence on the outcomes of two technologies for wound healing: low-level laser therapy and vacuum-assisted closure. This report addresses the following specific questions:

Effect of Low Frequency Low-Level Infra-Red Diode Laser Therapy on Third Degree Burn Healing in Rats Skin
Purpose: The aim of present investigation was to evaluate low frequency low-level infra red diode laser therapy for a third degree burn healing in rats skin.Materials and Methods: 36 rats were divided into groups one and two. On day zero three third degree burns were made on the dorsum of each rat by steam. In group one ,first burn were exposed to a 80 Hz –pulsed 890 nm infra red diode laser wi...

متن کاملThe clinical efficacy and cost effectiveness of the vacuum-assisted closure technique in the management of acute and chronic wounds: a randomized controlled trial.
BACKGROUND Vacuum-assisted closure therapy is a relatively new concept described in the literature that increases wound-healing capacity. The authors aimed to investigate the effect of vacuum-assisted closure therapy on wound healing, granulation tissue formation, bacterial clearance, pain, time involvement of the staff, and total costs in all types of wounds in comparison with modern wound dre...
متن کاملVacuum-assisted closure of complex perineal wounds.
The Vacuum-assisted Closure device decreases the time to wound healing, thus increasing the deposition of granulation tissue, and decreasing the use of wound care specialists. Perineal wounds present a special challenge. We present four cases of complex perineal wounds in which the Vacuum-assisted Closure device was used. In each case, wound care was simplified and healing accelerated. The Vacu...
متن کاملEffect of Low Level Laser Therapy on the Surgical Wound Healing in Hamster
Background and Objectives: Accelerating wound healing is a very important factor for patients to return to ordinary life. Laser seems to have positive effect on cutaneous wound healing. This study aimed to investigate the effect of red light laser 630 nm on cutaneous surgical wound in hamster and to compare outcomes such as angiogenesis, number of fibroblasts and collagen form...
